| Living Word (Emblem)
Living Word’s Emblem explained Living Word’s leadership realised the need to modernise Living Word’s emblem. This change, however, could not be so drastic, that it would break continuity with the old emblem. The new emblem still symbolises the Word and the Cross, but with the words are separated from the graphic shapes to establish a more strongly recognizable emblem. The text can now be used below or next to the emblem and the emblem can also be used separate from the text. The Cross embraces the Word – the Cross and the Word go together and will always be inseparable. The “embrace” speaks of the “living” in “Living Word”; it speaks of dynamics and movement. The cross is never static – it always challenges and invites us to an introduction to, or even a confrontation with the Way, the Truth and the Life, Jesus Christ. The cross is red – Jesus was fully human, His body broken and torn on the cross – His blood was red when it filtered into the cross. Red speaks of passion (Songs of Solomon 8:6-7), love (John 3:16) and life (John 15:13). Moreover the embrace also speaks of Living Word’s core values: especially unity, love and grace. The Word is blue, the colour of royalty. The Word portrays the Lord’s gracious Kingship in our lives (Rom. 2:4). Jesus is the Living Word (1 John 1:1; John 1:1-3). Jesus is our King! Lastly, the text: “Lewende Woord” (Afrikaans) is printed in plain, bold letters, creating a more modern look, with “LIVING WORD” (English) in dark grey capital letters below, so that an international or English speaking audience will immediately understand what “Lewende Woord” means. The cross, as internationally accepted symbol, speaks of the person of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. The cross therefore personifies Jesus and together with the Word, we have Jesus, the LIVING WORD.
